From The President - By Steve
Dear Members,
It seems as if this winter is flying by but we still managed to put a lot of hours on the
planes last month. For those using the Spirit self serve pump it looks like Signature
has finally managed to keep it up and running.
The new engine for the Cessna could be available as early as April.
I am asking everyone to plan now so the $1500 assessment can be handled in a
timely manner.
Thanks to John and Larry for all the work they did completing the Cessna annual!

BILLING STATEMENT
Comments:
- We are still getting great hours, thanks everyone for sending the receipts.
- The slight decrease in full service fuel that we saw last month was significantly offset with a large increase this month. Based on the receipts I'm seeing coming in, self service fuel is not going up as quickly and so it makes that much more sense to fuel yourself; whether at Spirit or elsewhere. Our maintenance funds are all sufficient, but we will need to discuss the rate per hour at the spring meeting..
BALANCE SHEET
- We have plenty of cash to operate into the foreseeable future, but as a friendly reminder, the club approved a $1,500 assessment that will become payable in the late spring of 2023, depending on engine delivery.
- Personal Property Tax declarations were due to St. Louis County by March 1st. As neither the Cessna nor the Arrow reached 200 hours in 2022, we have asked for a reduced valuation status on our 2023 personal property taxes (the RV gets the reduction automatically as it is an experimental). We provided our official times to the county and will know mid-year if reduction was granted. Assuming so, this will result in a meaningful reduction in personal property taxes for 2023.

- Vans Service Bulletin SB-00036 Rev 3 - Vans Aircraft issued Service Bulletin SB-00036 Rev 3 to inspect the outboard elevator hinge area for cracks in the spar emanating from the hinge attach rivet holes. On 3 March, Larry and I inspected the suspect areas with a borescope and we did not see any cracks in the elevator spar. Per the Service Bulletin, we will continue to inspect this area for cracks. Vans has developed a front and rear spar doublers and new hinges to beef up this area. We plan to order the doublers and hinges to have available if needed.
